The human body has several vital organs the heart is one of them. We often read or hear about the phase “Be Heart Smart,” which talks about healthy habits and a lifestyle that helps to promote a healthy heart and reduce the risk of heart disease and other cardiovascular complications. The Bible also talks about health care for the heart. In Proverbs 4:23 we read, “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it springs the issues of life.” This refers to our hearts which is the origin of our thoughts, affections, and actions. Our thoughts ultimately control our actions. In our hearts we determine how we will speak, behave, and respond to circumstances.
Jesus said, “Therefore by their fruits you will know them”(Matt. 7:20). Yes our spiritual heart is a vital organ. Here are some spiritual fitness tips.
-Weight: Do you need to lose the weight of unnecessary burden and care? Remember Hebrews 12:1 admonishes us to lay aside every weight and sin that so easily besets us.”
-Pulse: Are you maintaining a steady rhythm of gratitude and praise?
-Blood Pressure: Is your trust greater than your anxiety?
-Diet: Are you enjoying the life- giving nutrient of the word of God? What are you feeding your mind? “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” (Matt.12:23). Pure thoughts lead to pure actions.
-Love: Is the love of Christ flowing through you to others? Do not clog up your arteries and blood vessels. Be a channel of God’s blessings today.
-Exercise: Are you practicing the Christian virtues daily? “The fruits of the spirit are love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” (Gal.5:22).
-Have you checked your heart lately? Be heart smart! To keep spiritually fit, consult with the Great Physician- Almighty God.
