The title of this blog is taken from Psalm 69:30 “I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving.” Another translation reads; “Glorify the Lord with thanksgiving.” Oh that we would praise the Lord for His goodness and His wonderful deeds. It is so easy to take God’s abundant blessings for granted and to forget what he has done for us. Psalm 29:2 admonishes us to “give unto the Lord the glory due unto His; worship the lord in the beauty of His holiness.” Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised, hallelujah! Truly He is our source so let’s praise God from whom all blessings flow. I testify to the fact that the Lord has been very good to me, for this reason I give Him thanks and magnify His Holy Name. During this season of thanksgiving let us reflect on what the Lord has done for us and give Him thanks. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so. How thankful are you? Someone said “during happy moments -Praise God, difficult moments -seek God, quiet moments -Worship God, painful moments -Trust God, every moment -Thank God.”
Charles Spurgeon said this about worship and thanksgiving; “A child of God should be a visible beatitude of joy and a doxology of praise.” The Psalmist said ” I will bless the Lord at all times; and His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Joy and thanksgiving go together, as you give thanks to God you will experience joy. How joyful are you? If you want more joy, count your blessings as you do so your joy will multiply. Give thanks to God, this will lead to increase blessings in your life, resulting in more joy. Fellowship with God gives us joy because in the presence of God there is fullness of joy. Our joy should be “rooted in His grace rather than our goods, in His mercy rather than our money, in His worth rather our wealth. A true understanding of the mercy of God will keep you humble and thankful always.
We should magnify the Lord with thanksgiving for who He is, His character and attributes and for His wonderful work of creation. Thank Him for the gift of salvation. Thank Him for the Bible and the many precious promises available to us. Remember His manifold blessings upon your life and be thankful. In response to His love and blessings God wants us to present our bodies as living sacrifices holy and acceptable unto Him, and be channels of blessings to others. His grace should ignite a fire , a passion in our lives that calls us to surrender our all to Him as we daily offer unto Him our sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving.
